Patients returning from treatment in Jerusalem were subjected to harsh Israeli restrictions at the Karam Abu Salem crossing: only one bag, up to 500 shekels, and one phone allowed. Chronically ill patients said Israeli forces confiscated and threw away their medications.
Clothes, supplies, and personal belongings, including items with deep sentimental value, were left scattered on the ground as people were forced to abandon them. Exhausted patients had to choose between medicine, clothing, or memories just to re-enter Gaza. Today, 76 patients and companions crossed under these conditions.
