Genocidal biopolitics has formed the heart of Israel’s Gaza policy since the inception of its blockade in 2006. A 2008 internal Ministry of Health document calculated the number of calories entitled to each Gaza resident by their besiegers at 2279. By April 2024, according to Oxfam, the average resident of northern Gaza was living off 250 calories a day. Now, as the genocide approaches a final stage, that number is hovering just above zero. For its refusal to bow to an ethnosupremacist regime that always treated it as surplus humanity, the population of Gaza has been set for years on a trajectory toward manufactured famine.
