BREAKING: Israel placed EU Parliment member Rima Hassan in solitary confignment and Thiago Avila was also placed in solitary configment.Rima Hassan was placed in isolation under inhumane conditions in Neve Tirza Prison after writing “Free Palestine” on a wall in Givon Prison. She was moved to a small, windowless cell with extremely poor hygienic conditions and has been denied access to the prison yard.
Tiago Ávila was placed in isolation in Ayalon Prison due to his ongoing hunger and thirst strike, which he began two days ago. He has also been treated aggressively by prison authorities, although this has not escalated to physical assault.

“11 June 2025, 6pm Jerusalem Time
Today, Adalah’s lawyers visited the detained volunteers. During the visit, they received updates on the conditions of detention, including recent punitive measures taken against them. The Israeli authorities transferred two of the volunteers — the Brazilian volunteer Thiago Ávila and the French-Palestinian European Parliament member Rima Hassan — to separate prison facilities, away from the others, and placed them in solitary confinement.
Tiago Ávila was placed in isolation in Ayalon Prison due to his ongoing hunger and thirst strike, which he began two days ago. He has also been treated aggressively by prison authorities, although this has not escalated to physical assault.
Rima Hassan was placed in isolation under inhumane conditions in Neve Tirza Prison after writing “Free Palestine” on a wall in Givon Prison. She was moved to a small, windowless cell with extremely poor hygienic conditions and has been denied access to the prison yard.
The act of isolation and transfer to separate prison facilities constitutes a serious violation of the volunteer’s rights and a clear attempt to exert mental and political pressure on them.
Adalah is demanding that the Israeli authorities release the volunteers from solitary confinement, cease all retaliatory actions against them, and immediately release all eight of them — either allowing their return to the ship to continue their humanitarian mission or facilitating their return to their countries of origin”

Activists who refused to sign a document admitting “illegal entry into Israeli territory” were also threatened. The activists were not trying to enter israeli territory and they were kidnapped in international waters.
MEP Rima Hassan was threatened and the soldier said: “I’ll smash your head against the wall if you don’t sign. We’ll handle this our own way.”

He reports abuse and sleep deprivation, especially targeting Greta Thunberg. Also the Israeli authorities used loud music whenever the activists would sleep to deprive them from sleeping, and says he was forced to sign a false document to be released. Other activists, including MEP Rima Hassan, refused to sign.

BREAKING; Update by Adalah Center on Freedom Flotilla Volunteers in the Israeli occupation Custody including MEP Rima Hassan:Adalah Update, 11 June 2025, 11 AM Jerusalem
Adalah: “The Madleen volunteers’ continued custodial detention is completely unlawful. The volunteers must be released immediately and safely returned, either to the Madleen to resume their humanitarian mission to Gaza or to their countries of origin.
Late last night, on 10 June 2025, the Israeli Detention Review Tribunal at the Ramleh detention facility upheld the Ministry of Interior’s custody orders for the eight international volunteers from the Madleen Freedom Flotilla, still held in Israeli custody. Adalah received the decisions this morning.
The eight detained volunteers are: Suayb Ordu (Turkey), Mark van Rennes (The Netherlands), Pascal Maurieras (France), Reva Viard (France), Rima Hassan (France), Thiago Avila (Brazil), Yanis Mhamdi (France), and Yasemin Acar (Germany).
In Adalah’s view, the law applied by the Tribunal - “illegal entry into Israel” - is inapplicable to the Madleen volunteers. They neither sought to enter Israel nor intended to enter Israeli territorial waters. Their planned route was from Sicily to international waters and then directly into the internationally-recognized territorial waters of the State of Palestine, into Gaza. Israeli authorities forcibly intercepted and seized the flotilla and detained the volunteers, violating their will and their fundamental rights under international law.
The Tribunal dismissed Adalah’s arguments, asserting that the naval blockade on Gaza is lawful under Israeli law and that the volunteers knowingly attempted to breach it. Under Israeli law, individuals under deportation orders are detained for 72 hours or more before they are forcibly deported unless they agree to be deported earlier. The Tribunal set a follow-up custody review for 8 July 2025 at 9:00 a.m., should deportation not occur before then. The Tribunal thus enables the authorities to extend detention arbitrarily, potentially for one month, until 8 July 2025, without any further judicial oversight, and in clear violation of international law."
