Government Media Office:
We Reject “israeli” Incitement and Allegations Targeting the Civil Defense and Its Official Spokesperson — We Warn of Their Intentions
We are following with deep concern the recent incitement campaign launched by the “israeli” occupation army, which uses its propaganda tools and black media to distort our humanitarian image and discredit the noble mission we are committed to conveying to the international humanitarian community.
The “israeli” army has launched a systematic media campaign aimed at discrediting our independent service institution and undermining our noble message. We have received multiple reports from international news agencies, media outlets, and journalists stating that they were sent emails from the “israeli” army urging them to reject the media narrative issued by the official spokesperson of the Civil Defense. These emails falsely accuse the spokesperson of working for a non-independent and non-humanitarian organization and allege that he was affiliated with Hamas in 2005.
We affirm the following:
1. The Civil Defense in Gaza is a purely humanitarian service body. It is committed to remaining politically and organizationally neutral — a principle we have always communicated clearly to international organizations that engage with our humanitarian work.
2. We strongly warn against the “israeli” army’s efforts to drag our institution and its official spokesperson into an orchestrated smear campaign — a very serious development whose consequences we deeply fear.
3. Our spokesperson, Mahmoud Basal, has been part of our humanitarian institution since 2008. He carries out his role with the utmost professionalism. His duty is clear: to convey our humanitarian message and to shed light on the suffering and injustices inflicted upon our people due to the occupation’s aggression and blockade.
4. The “israeli” army’s organized incitement against our humanitarian body seeks to obscure the truth, silence witnesses, and cover up its ongoing atrocities against our people in the Gaza Strip — as well as its continuous violations of international humanitarian law.
5. We call on the International Civil Defense Organization, all human rights institutions, and advocates for press freedom to act urgently before it is too late. We urge them not to fall for “israeli” black propaganda or its inciting media tactics. We do not serve any partisan or “terrorist” agenda. Our message is clear: to deliver humanitarian services to those facing a genocide that has continued for months.
