BREAKING: Former ISIS member who fought Egyptian army in Sinai is a member of the Israeli backed Yasser Abu Shabab Gang.
According to Yedioth Ahronoth, Issam Al-Nabbahin, 33, from Nuseirat camp, is a key member of Abu Shabab’s gang in eastern Rafah. He previously fought with ISIS in Sinai against the Egyptian army and returned to Gaza before October 7.
In July 2023, he was convicted for killing a police officer, He was reportedly sentenced to death by Hamas but escaped prison on the first day of the war.
His family released a statement disowning him:
“I, Dr. Maysoun Muhammad Alean Al-Nabahin, on behalf of my father (may God protect him), my brothers, my uncle, the remaining sons of my uncles, my maternal uncles and their children, and my younger sister’s husband—who belongs to the same family and lost his entire family before being pulled alive from under the rubble and recovering—hereby declare our complete disavowal of the so-called Issam Suleiman Al-Nabahin.
We denounce his violations against the wounded and grieving in Gaza through looting and thuggery. We also note that the family elder had already issued a formal disavowal before the war due to Issam’s numerous problems with the local authorities. He was wanted by the authorities even before the war. Sadly, the enemy exploits individuals like him.
As a family with a proud history of sacrifice—having offered 600 martyrs and some of our best sons in service of our people—we distance ourselves from such immoral actions.
Therefore, we call on the Thaqeb Arrow Unit to eliminate him and all saboteurs who tamper with the food and safety of the hungry.
We will remain loyal to our homeland, which has given us so much and continues to do so.
Finally, we pray that God lifts the hardship from Gaza and brings us back to it—liberated and dignified.“
