Iran

BREAKING: Iran appears to have struck a vessel in the middle of the Gulf of Oman east of Fujairah, with NASA FIRMS showing the vessel on fire. It would be the first hit in the area in more than 6 months.

US aircraft have been circulating over the exact area of the fire for roughly two hours, including two KC-46 tankers, a KC-135, a P-8A maritime patrol aircraft and helicopters.

It is the second strike in an unusual location tonight, after Iran struck a tanker with multiple projectiles off Qatar's northern coast earlier, with casualties reported. Both sit well outside the Strait itself.

The USS George Washington, the only US carrier left in the region, is now in the Arabian Sea, roughly 500 km from Fujairah, which likely explains Iran's targeting of more vessels outside the strait.

Iran’s Army Warns It Will Launch PREEMPTIVE Strikes

Iranian Army spokesman Brigadier General Mohammad Akraminia says Iran’s military doctrine has shifted from DEFENSE to OFFENSE.

He said Iran has already used this doctrine to strike forces and bases it believed were preparing operations against the country.

“If necessary, we will in the future carry out operations PREEMPTIVELY to deter the enemy from any kind of aggression and transgression.”

🇺🇸⚔️🇮🇷 Pentagon orders preparations to resume major war on Iran

The Pentagon has instructed US Central Command to complete preparations for resuming major combat operations against Iran, Axios reports, citing US officials. The order was issued several days ago.

🔸️No date has been set and US President Donald Trump has not made a final decision

🔸️US and Israeli sources say an attack could come before the US midterm elections on November 3, and possibly before Israel's elections on October 27

🔸️Renewed operations would involve large-scale strikes on Iranian energy, infrastructure and nuclear targets

🔸️Washington and Tel Aviv would most likely act together, with the IDF taking part

🔸️Trump's national security team spent several hours at Camp David on Friday, partly discussing a return to full-scale war

The Atlantic separately reports that the White House asked the Pentagon for strike options ahead of the midterms. Officials involved warned that new strikes could push oil prices higher and expose the roughly 50,000 American troops in the region to Iranian retaliation.

Two elections, two governments in trouble at home, one convenient war.

Iran’s Atomic Chief REJECTS IAEA Access to Bombed Nuclear Sites

Mohammad Eslami says inspectors CANNOT return to facilities attacked by the U.S. and Israel until Iran can guarantee the safety of its personnel and researchers.

He warns that U.S. and Israeli pressure to send inspectors into damaged sites is an attempt to gather intelligence for both countries, insisting Iran will NOT give in.

BREAKING: Iran is now preparing to completely shut the U.S. backed Omani route of the Strait of Hormuz, as Iran’s attacks involving oil, LNG and LPG tankers hit their highest weekly level since the war began, with at least 12 incidents recorded between September 28 and October 5, per Reuters.

IRGC adviser Mohammadreza Naqdi said Iran will soon block the “illegal routes” along Oman’s coast used by ships to bypass Iranian controlled waters, declaring that the Strait is already “closed” and under Iran’s full control.

The escalation comes as vessel traffic through the Strait has collapsed from around 125 ships per day before the war to roughly 10, while separate IMO data recorded nine vessel incidents during the same week. Reuters reports that the incidents included missile and drone attacks, attempted attacks, surveillance and radio warnings involving the IRGC.

For reasons not disclosed, schools in Kish Island, southern Iran, will be operating virtually next week.

This comes during heightened tensions and a possible renewal of war with the US. According to Axios (so always take it with a grain of salt) the Pentagon has instructed CENTCOM to finalize preparations for a possible resumption of major combat operations against Iran.

BREAKING: Israel says that fighting with Iran could resume within weeks and has raised its alert and readiness levels despite Trump's statement today, after a series of situation assessments held in the defense establishment hours ago, per Channel 14.

Israel is at a "very high level" of preparedness for renewed military action soon and says it is also prepared for preemptive action against Iran if preparations for an Iranian attack are identified.

The Israeli military is examining acting in cooperation with the US, with one scenario being that Israel leads the move.

The defense establishment adds that a significant security development may require immediate action regardless of Israel's election timetable.
