Only a small fraction of American Jews — about 250,000 out of 4.5 million — actively supported Zionism — many of the most vocal Zionist advocates in the U.S. were not even American citizens.
However, Zionist propaganda successfully created the illusion that:
1. All Jews supported Zionism, and
2. Opposition to Zionism was equivalent to anti-Semitism.
The writer calls this equivalence a “cultural perversion” — essentially saying it’s intellectually dishonest to equate political opposition to Zionism with racial or religious hatred.
This framing, they note, mirrored Nazi racial logic (“popularly identified with Hitlerism”) by treating a political ideology as inseparable from an ethnic identity.
What are the odds…?
Surely reading Intelligence Cables from our own Government Archives isn’t antisemitic…
