At Georgetown University, 10 community members had their immigration status terminated without prior notice. The university warned that the Department of Homeland Security is now reviewing social media activity when assessing immigration applications.
Georgetown student Izzy Volpe called the move a “gross violation of human rights and the Constitution,” while Associate Professor Nader Hashemi warned that students are being targeted for expressing opinions, particularly on the Israel-Palestine conflict.
“Every day, people are wondering if they’ll be next,” Hashemi said.
