One non horrifying reason you’ll see some people denying the horrors of the Epstein documents, is because materialists have a very hard time admitting evil exists. Everything has to have a reason, an evolutionary advantage, a pragmatic explanation. Eating a baby doesn’t.
The thing about objective evil is, ironically it reveals God. Just like the existence of a shadow shows the object. If your worldview is big bang chaos where things just feed and happen, true evil can’t be explained.
This is why many materialists deny it. Because it forces them to see the order and beauty of the universe.
