Israeli army radio quoting security source: This is an exceptionally large wave of strikes against regime forces in the Druze Mountain. The State of Israel views this as a test of its policy to demilitarize southern Syria and its commitment to the Druze.

“Under political directives, the Israeli army has begun attacking Syrian regime military vehicles in the Suwayda region of southern Syria.

This follows the monitoring, since yesterday, of convoys of armored personnel carriers and tanks moving toward Suwayda. The Israeli army has already struck several armored vehicles, including tanks, APCs, and rocket launchers, as well as roads to block their advance.

The army continues to monitor developments and remains on high alert for various scenarios.”

“Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Israel Katz have instructed the IDF to immediately strike regime forces and weapons that have been brought into the Suwayda area, in the Druze mountain region of Syria, for the regime’s operations against the Druze—this in violation of the demilitarization policy decided upon, which prohibits the entry of forces and weapons into southern Syria that could endanger Israel.

Israel is committed to preventing harm to the Druze in Syria due to the deep brotherhood alliance with our Druze citizens in Israel, and their familial and historical ties to the Druze in Syria. We are acting to prevent the Syrian regime from harming them and to ensure the demilitarization of the area adjacent to our border with Syria.”
