The FDA reached a settlement agreement in March 2024 to remove old social media posts regarding ivermectin, but the agency did not lose a lawsuit on its merits and never admitted to any legal wrongdoing.

What happened with the FDA

• The agreement: The FDA agreed to remove its pandemic-era posts (including the "You are not a horse" tweet) to settle a lawsuit brought by three doctors.
• The agency's position: The FDA explicitly stated that it did not admit to any violation of the law, that it maintains its authority to inform the public, and that ivermectin is neither approved nor authorized to treat or prevent Covid-19.

Regarding Ivermectin and cancer

• Lack of clinical evidence: There is no scientific evidence validated by rigorous human clinical trials demonstrating that ivermectin cures or treats cancer.
• Laboratory studies: Claims regarding cancer are based on in vitro (test tube) or animal (preclinical) observations, where the doses required to affect cancer cells would often be toxic and impossible to safely achieve in the human body.
• Status of the cited doctors: Dr. Paul Marik and Dr. Pierre Kory had their medical certifications revoked by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) due to the dissemination of medical misinformation.
