Dr. Hussam Abu Safiya has been illegally held by Israel for over a year without charges.
An Israeli district court in Beersheba extended the detention of Dr. Hussam Abu Safiya, director of Kamal Adwan Hospital in northern Gaza, under the “Unlawful Combatants Law” with no charges or time limit, according to his family.
He remains held in Al-Naqab (Negev) prison under harsh conditions, reportedly denied medical treatment as his health deteriorates. Requests for his release were rejected, and PHRI is calling for his immediate release along with other detained medical personnel.
