Israel is preparing negotiations with the Trump administration on a new 10-year U.S.–Israel security agreement to replace the current Memorandum of Understanding expiring in 2028, according to the Financial Times.
The existing MOU provides $3.8bn per year in U.S. military aid. Israeli officials, including outgoing chief financial adviser Gil Pinchas, told the FT that Israel wants to gradually reduce reliance on direct U.S. cash aid.
Instead, Israel aims to pivot toward joint weapons development, defence technology cooperation, and deeper strategic military partnership, with officials saying U.S. support such as air defence systems, bombers, and co-development projects now matters more than annual financial grants.
