BREAKING: Hamas Statement:
Hamas sends an urgent memorandum to Arab and Muslim foreign ministers and international organizations regarding the assassination attempt on its negotiating delegation, the violation of Qatar's sovereignty, and the thwarting of efforts to halt the genocide.
The Islamic Resistance Movement, Hamas, sent an urgent memorandum to the foreign ministers of Arab and Islamic countries and influential countries around the world, as well as to the secretaries-general of the Arab League, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, the African Union Commission, and the United Nations. The memorandum detailed the treacherous Zionist attempt to assassinate the negotiating delegation in the Qatari capital, Doha. Hamas holds the occupation government, led by war criminal Netanyahu, fully responsible for this crime and for the thwarting of ceasefire and prisoner exchange efforts.
The memorandum, addressed by Mujahid Muhammad Darwish, head of the Leadership Council, revealed that the assassination attempt came just one day after a meeting between a leadership delegation from the movement, including the negotiating delegation, and Qatari Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani. The delegation received a "new ceasefire proposal." The negotiating delegation had met to discuss and respond to this proposal when it was targeted.
It explained that on the evening of September 9, 2025, Israeli aircraft targeted the home of the head of the negotiating delegation, Dr. Khalil al-Hayya, with several missiles. This resulted in the deaths of his son, Humam; his office manager, Jihad Labad; three of his companions; and a member of the Qatari security forces. Several members of his family were injured, while all members of the negotiating delegation survived. The movement considered this treacherous attack a serious violation of the sovereignty of the State of Qatar, the mediating state in the negotiations.
The memorandum emphasized that Hamas had exerted maximum flexibility to stop the genocide against our people, but the occupation government has consistently thwarted every agreement through assassinations, adding conditions, and committing massacres, using negotiations as a cover for more time and crimes.
It recalled that the enemy has reneged on the January 17, 2025 agreement and resumed its aggression with massacres, displacement, and starvation, despite the movement's full commitment to its terms.
It noted that the fascist Netanyahu government is pursuing its project of genocide and displacement of our people from the Gaza Strip to the end. It previously dared to assassinate the movement's martyred leader, Ismail Haniyeh, in Tehran, even though the movement had agreed to a mediation initiative at the time.
The movement emphasized that it is an elected national liberation movement seeking to achieve the Palestinian people's rights to freedom and independence, and that its leaders should not be considered military targets to justify the occupation's crimes. It warned that the extreme right-wing Israeli government, haunted by divination, is opening a dangerous door to extremism and terrorism in the region and the world.
At the end of its memorandum, Hamas called on the international community, Arab, and Islamic countries to:
1. Apply pressure to halt the aggression and genocide in Gaza, the West Bank, and Jerusalem.
2. End the Israeli rampage, which flouts international law.
3. Oblige the occupation to respect international law and respond to the legitimate rights of our people.
4. Boycott and isolate Israel politically and economically.
5. Prosecuting the occupation leaders in international courts for crimes of genocide and violation of state sovereignty.
It emphasized that the Palestinian people's struggle and resistance aims to liberate the land, establish an independent state with Jerusalem as its capital, and ensure the return of refugees.
