“As part of a policy of slow extermination, the Israeli occupation continues to systematically strangle the economy in the Gaza Strip. One of the most prominent aspects is the restriction on the circulation of paper currency, forcing citizens to “cash out” their money on the black market at commissions exceeding 40%, amid the closure of banks and the near-total paralysis of the banking system.
Added to this is a suffocating blockade that has led to a shortage of goods and basic necessities, and a lack of fuel and medicine, amid the spread of famine and the absence of any means for survival.
We are living in a collective prison where citizens are deprived of food, water, and electricity, and famine is being used as a weapon of genocide.”
