Samer Abu Daqqa was killed by Israel when he was filming the aftermath of a bombing of a school in Khan Younis south of Gaza. He was left to bleed for hours while Israeli artillery prevented medics from evacuating him.

Israel's stated goals at the beginning of its assault on Gaza were to:
1. Defeat Hamas
2. Bring back the captives alive

These were obviously contradictory from the start, as defeating Hamas is impossible short of a complete genocide, and more war ensures the captives wouldn't survive to come home.

Today, Hamas fighters continue to resist Israeli forces, and Israel just shot dead 3 more of its own captives who had escaped. 2 others were found dead on Tuesday, apparently killed while Israeli forces attempted to reach them.

All captives that returned alive, except 1, came through a ceasefire and negotiations with Hamas.

Israel has failed to achieve its stated goals in every way.
