Palestina - Israël

It happened again today. A weasel attacked a newborn baby girl inside her family's tent in Gaza, biting her fingers, her feet and her face as she slept. Her father says her bedding was soaked in blood. He says this isn't the first time it has happened to his daughter, and all he is asking for is a tarp to seal the tent so it can't get in again.

Weasels are attacking newborn babies across Gaza's tent camps, and displaced families now stay awake through the night to guard them. Earlier this year, another newborn was left with serious face wounds after a weasel attacked him in his family's tent.

Families hang their food from the tent roofs to keep the animals away, until the thin canvas sags under the weight. Rats are attacking too. UNRWA has warned that rats are biting children in their tents at night as they sleep, and in Gaza City a baby boy not yet a month old barely survived the poisoning that followed a rat bite. This is what three years of genocide have done to the places children sleep.

The Israeli occupation destroyed Gaza's sewage and waste systems and left rubbish piling up beside the tents, and it still restricts the pesticides, rodent control and medicine that could stop it. Until that changes, more than a million people, many of them infants, are sleeping on the ground inside tents that keep out neither the cold nor the animals.

Two international journalists were attacked by Israeli settlers today in the occupied West Bank while covering settler assaults on Palestinians harvesting olives.

American journalist Heidi Levine, of The Washington Post, survived a brutal assault in the village of Abu Falah near Ramallah, where settlers beat her with clubs, kicked her while she lay on the ground, and robbed her of her camera and belongings.

Canadian journalist Fine de Pencier, of Foreign Policy, was reportedly attacked and pepper sprayed in the village of Burqa, where several Palestinians were beaten with clubs.

Settler gangs see no boundaries to their terrorism, and treat anyone who documents their attacks or stands by Palestinians as an enemy to be met with the same terrorism.

Just moments ago…

Young man Adham Khalil Maarouf received a phone call ordering him to leave his home and immediately go up to the rooftop, threatening to strike the house if he refused.

He went up to the roof. Moments later, he was targeted by a reconnaissance missile and killed.

#Gaza — our lives truly feel like death itself.

In Gaza, you dig a trench for a water pipe and uncover a martyr’s body. You drive a tent peg into the ground and strike a martyr’s bones. You clear the rubble of a home and recover another martyr.
This land is filled with the bodies of martyrs. Gaza itself has become a graveyard.

This is the most horrific genocide in history.

“Let me die,” American photojournalist Heidi Levine repeats to journalists Jasper Nathaniel as they try to outrun masked Israeli settlers who attacked her on Friday while she covered the olive harvest in the West Bank village of Abu Falah, near Ramallah.

Around 80 settlers attacked Palestinian olive harvesters in the village, AP reported. The Palestinian Red Crescent said it treated six people injured in two attacks in Abu Falah.

Levine, a freelancer for the Washington Post, told the Committee to Protect Journalists that the settlers knocked her down and kicked her for at least 10 minutes, even after she identified herself as an American journalist. They stole her camera, phone and bag. She was eventually taken to a hospital in Ramallah.

"The IDF provided cover, with tear gas and machine guns, while the settlers beat" Levine "nearly to death," Nathaniel wrote, adding that soldiers then shot a Palestinian bystander and aimed their guns at and shoved paramedics trying to treat him. AP photos and circulating videos show Israeli soldiers standing over a wounded Palestinian man after they shot him.

Andrey X, an activist also at the scene, said a Palestinian man "saved our lives from the settler-terrorists who attacked the olive harvesters and journalists” armed only with a slingshot.
