Press Statement No. (927) Issued by the Government Media Office

Israeli Occupation Assassinates Five Journalists, Including Al Jazeera Correspondents Anas Al-Sharif and Mohammed Qreiqah, in a Direct Strike on the Journalists’ Tent near Al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza
We condemn, in the strongest possible terms, the heinous, brutal, and horrific crime committed by the Israeli occupation army in the assassination of five journalists following a direct strike on the journalists’ tent in the vicinity of Al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza City.

The colleagues martyred at the hands of the Israeli treachery are:

Martyr journalist Anas Al-Sharif, Al Jazeera correspondent.

Martyr journalist Mohammed Qreiqah, Al Jazeera correspondent.

Martyr journalist Ibrahim Zahir, photojournalist.

Martyr journalist Mo’men Alouwa, photojournalist.

Martyr journalist Mohammed Noufal, assistant photojournalist.
This assassination was carried out with premeditation and deliberate intent, through a targeted, direct strike on the journalists’ tent near Al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza City. The attack also injured several other journalist colleagues.
With this massacre, the number of journalists killed by the occupation in the Gaza Strip during the ongoing genocide has now risen to 237 martyred journalists.
The targeting of journalists and media institutions by the occupation’s warplanes constitutes a full-fledged war crime, aimed at silencing the truth, erasing evidence of the genocide, and paving the way for covering up past and future massacres in Gaza.
We hold the Israeli occupation, the U.S. administration, and all states complicit in the genocide fully responsible for these systematic crimes against journalists and media workers in the Gaza Strip.
We call on the International Federation of Journalists, the Arab Journalists Union, and all international journalistic and human rights bodies worldwide to condemn these crimes and to urgently act to provide full protection for Palestinian journalists and media institutions in Gaza, and to ensure that the leaders of the occupation are held accountable for their crimes against press freedom and the right to access information.
