JUST IN: Hamas disputes U.S. and Israeli Claims about Ceasefire “Progress”
The U.S. and Israel claim Gaza “ceasefire” talks are yielding results. Steve Witkoff said today, “We had four issues and now we’re down to one” to resolve. Trump and Witkoff said they are “hopeful” an agreement will be reached by the end of the week.
A Hamas official just told me that there has been “no progress” in the proximity talks underway in Qatar and that these comments are part of “the deception game.” He said the U.S. and Israel may be preparing to blame Hamas for failure to reach an agreement.
The Hamas official said Israel is demanding to “keep” occupying virtually all of Rafah up through the Morag axis in southern Gaza “to prepare” Israeli plans to forcibly corral and then expel Palestinians from Gaza. Israel’s defense minister announced these plans Monday.
The Hamas official confirmed the movement proposed a handful of changes to the Trump-backed proposal:
1. Unrestricted flow of humanitarian aid coordinated by the UN under the terms of the original January ceasefire.
2. Israeli withdrawal and redeployment based on the maps and terms of the January deal.
3. Stronger language from Trump committing to Israel continuing the ceasefire beyond 60 days to negotiate a longterm deal.
This is a fluid situation and developments can happen at any moment as the talks continue and with Netanyahu in DC. The bottom line will be what Trump wants and all parties know this.

Netanyahu sent a lower-level delegation to negotiate in Qatar, but all parties know the final word will come from Trump.
