The situation in Minneapolis could have been EASILY AVOIDED entirely, and it is BOTH parties that are at fault.
This may be an unpopular stance, but I’m going to call it as I see it…Like I always do.
Nicole Good is at fault because she, and her wife were very clearly instigating the ICE officers, and should not have been in that position to begin with…It was seen as obstruction of official business, regardless of how you see or feel about said business.
It’s very clear by the comments of her wife, who was out of the car filming… “You wanna come at us, I say go get yourself some lunch, big boy!”…and “drive baby, drive!” That she was heavily instigating the situation and they are in the WRONG for that.
Jonathan Ross, the ICE officer involved, VERY MUCH overreacted by shooting Nicole not once, not twice, but THREE times in the head/face after it was clear that she was not going to hit him, and in fact, had her wheels turned in the opposite direction of him.
The fact that EXCESSIVE FORCE was used here by Jonathan isn’t even a question…He completely disregarded the deadly force continuum, which is part of basic training for ALL military and law enforcement.
Jonathan instantly panicked because he THOUGHT Nicole was going to floor it and run him over, overreacted in a BIG way and then murdered her. If he was in the right frame of mind, he should have shot out her tires, immobilizing her, so she could be placed under arrest. That would have been PROPER procedure.
Not to mention, the fact that this officer was already in an incident in which he was apparently dragged 300 feet by a car last year, and if he was experiencing some kind of PTSD, he should NOT have been allowed to have a firearm, or been discharged from duty. That falls directly on DHS/ICE for not properly evaluating him after said incident.
In fact, DHS guidelines explicitly PROHIBIT DEADLY FORCE of a fleeing suspect, AND it also prohibits officers from standing in front of vehicles, to avoid situations like what transpired here.
In BOTH circumstances, Jonathan was in the WRONG.
All of this to say, that this situation is absolutely TRAGIC, as a child is now orphaned and a mother is dead.
Neither side should be celebrating this, because it plays directly into the “order out of chaos” playbook, at the end of the day. More incidents like this, and subsequent protests will just move the needle closer to “justification” for Martial Law, or the Insurrection Act, and then we are ALL SCREWED.
From this video it is clear that Good's partner was provoking the ICE officers, I'll give you that. But how would you react if these fascist goons invaded your neighbirhood? I say their anger was justified. What was NOT justified, however, was the behavior of Ross and the other officer for the simple reason that they should have been trained to deal with hostility by DE-ESCALATING above anything else. Ross is in the wrong here for displaying very UNPROFESSIONAL behavior. I hope they throw the book at him.

This is not at all the W you make it out to be. Good's last words were "I'm not mad at you". She had just dropped off her son at school. There were stuffed animals in the car and her dog was in the backseat. Her car turned AWAY from Ross while he flung himself in front of the vehicle. She had zero room to move and moved at 2-3 miles p/h. And you're saying this was a justified killing? He said "f*cking bitch" afterwards, ffs!
