Let's be honest about what happened today.
I've seen multiple clips of the incident, and any reasonable person would conclude that Renee Nicole Good was fleeing ICE agents, not trying to run them over. The use of deadly force was clearly unnecessary.
Should you flee law enforcement? No. Did she put herself in unnecessary danger? Yes. Might the agent have felt that his life was threatened and thus be justified under the law? We'll see.
The point is that a policy of roving bands of poorly trained, heavily armed agents, encouraged by DHS hype videos, was going to end up this way, sooner or later.
Renee Nicole Good was, reportedly, a mother and widow. It's not even clear the degree to which she was aggressively protesting ICE. She, and people like her, are not the enemy.
Conservatives and MAGA will, no doubt, "back the blue" and not call out what is obviously excessive force. Politically speaking, the narrative of "Trump's Gestapo" has been cemented. Obama deported three million people without theatrics. MAGA embraced the theatrics and must pay the price.
