⚡️JUST IN:

A UN panel overseeing sanctions on Sudan is probing how mortar rounds originally exported from Bulgaria to the United Arab Emirates ended up in the hands of Rapid Support Forces (RSF) fighters, according to a letter reviewed by Reuters.

The mortar rounds, seized in November in Sudan’s North Darfur region, had serial numbers matching those that Bulgaria reported exporting to the UAE in 2019.

Bulgaria’s foreign affairs ministry informed Reuters that it had not received any request for permission to re-export the munitions to another country.

"We adamantly declare that the Bulgarian competent authority has not issued an export license for defense-related products to Sudan," the ministry stated.

⚡️JUST IN:

UAE-backed Rapid Support Forces killed more than 100 civilians in an attack on a city in southern Sudan, according to an association of doctors, in the latest accusation of a large-scale atrocity of the country’s civil war.

230 civilians had been killed.

The paramilitary fighters, called the Rapid Support Forces, said on Thursday that they had attacked Nahud, which had been held by the Sudanese military along a highway connecting territory it holds with Darfur — a western region that has become a stronghold for the Rapid Support Forces.

"They offered me $5 million to shoot Ibrahim Traoré from behind, specifically when he bends to pray to Allah. They promised my family and me citizenship in their country. They called it 'an offer I couldn’t refuse.' To them, money matters more than humanity.

But I asked myself. Is $5 million worth carrying a guilty conscience to my grave? Will that money make me a king in a foreign land or a fool mocked by their sons and daughters? I’d rather live as a lion in the wild than as a dog in their city."
