Israel forces 20 British diplomats out of East Jerusalem
British diplomatic personnel are leaving the nearly 200-year-old consulate following Israel’s retaliation against London’s sanctions on illegal settlements in the occupied West Bank.
The consul general is among those departing, while just seven diplomats will remain under a last-minute arrangement that renames the consulate the “UK Mission, Jerusalem.”
Britain insists Israel has no legal authority to shut down its diplomatic presence in occupied East Jerusalem.
THE LARGEST GLOBAL MOVEMENT IN THE WORLD…
Today marks the 37th national pro-Palestinian protest in London, joining more than 250 demonstrations across 60 countries worldwide.
UNPRECEDENTED.
Over the past three years, at least 51,000 pro-Palestinian protests have been documented across the world.
Police officers tried yesterday to persuade pro-Palestine activists to end their blockade of TT Electronics in Rochdale, UK, pointing to the "disruption caused by their protest".
The activists targeted the factory over its supply of components used in Israeli fighter jets and drones, demanding an end to the production chain supplying Israel’s military as Palestinians continue to face genocide in Gaza.
Amnesty International revealed on Tuesday in its Silencing Dissent report that UK universities actively worked together to stop students protesting their universities’ ties to Israel’s genocidal war on Gaza.
Freedom of Information (FOI) disclosures examined in the report found that universities “were not acting in isolation when responding to Palestine solidarity protest, but are operating within a network which encouraged repressive responses".
FOI-obtained messages showed university administrators discussing disciplinary measures, including injunctions to stop protests and referring student protesters to the UK's Prevent counterterrorism programme.
