️JUST IN: British Museum Removes Palestine From Ancient Displays

The British Museum has removed references to Palestine from several maps and panels in its Middle East galleries after complaints from pro-Israel group UK Lawyers for Israel (UKLFI).

Labels referring to parts of the southern Levant as Palestine were revised. In some cases, “Palestinian descent” was changed to “Canaanite descent,” and broader regional terms were narrowed to “Canaan” or the kingdoms of “Israel and Judah.”

The museum says the term was historically inaccurate for ancient periods and is no longer considered “neutral.”

This move contributes to erasing Palestinian historical presence. A petition opposing the changes has been launched and gathered thousands of signatures.
