The Iran Ground War Dilemma.
Let me just catch you up:
Afghanistan had no navy or Air Force.
Most of the Taliban came from villages with no electricity or running water.
They were armed with old Soviet weapons.
They defeated the USA and were given billions of dollars of new American weapons and equipment for winning.
Their only advantage was the mountains.
They negated the U.S. Air superiority.
The caves were impenetrable to US bombs.
The Taliban were reinforced and resupplied through the Northern mountains joining Pakistan every day.
It was a war of attrition on the ground that they won easily.
This same situation is facing American troops on Iran.
The same mountains and cave systems.
The same ability for the enemy to be reinforced daily by Pakistan AND now also Afghanistan by soldiers trained by the U.S. and armed with your own equipment given by the Biden Administration.
Do not get fooled by the Trump Administration claiming premature victory because they’ve bombed from the air or sunk some ships.
All they have done is stir up a hornets nest they don’t dare walk troops into that they know will get trapped, isolated and picked off like fish in a barrel by the home team.
You simply cannot defeat a mountain fortress country like Iran with AirPower alone. You must occupy and control it with ground troops.
But if America could not win after 20 years in Afghanistan, a country half Irans size and way less advanced, how could it possibly win there?
Trump knows this.
He bit off more than he can chew.
Expect him to find a way to claim victory without actually winning soon and get out before he kills thousands of American troops walking them into hell on earth.
My analysis as a retired Infantryman.
