Being MAGA for a long time, I can say that it’s like a psychological security blanket of sorts.
Your ears feel tickled by all of the rhetoric, but when the cracks start to shine through the cognitive dissonance comes on really strong for those who lack critical discernment and thinking skills.
I think it comes from a deep seated fear of being wrong about Trump in the first place, and the consequences of what that entails.
I could be wrong, but this is my observation.
