Massie on the Epstein files: If this were a private law firm with just 5% of the DOJ's resources, they would have finished this work before the deadline. They just missed another deadline to report all politicians named in the files, and they're supposed to justify all the redactions they've made.
The bigger problem isn't missing deadlines, but what they're redacting from the documents. They're trying to pretend the Privacy Act overrides a law that explicitly says records cannot be withheld to avoid embarrassment. They're also citing FOIA standards, which don't apply to our law. They're trying to claim they don't have to release internal decisions, even though our bill specifically requires them to do so.
