JUST IN:Saudi FM Faisal bin Farhan said Friday that Saudi Arabia’s priority is reaching a permanent ceasefire in Gaza, when asked about the possibility of normalising ties with Israel.
In 2024, he said normalization won’t happen without resolving the Palestinian issue.
"What we are seeing is the Israelis are crushing Gaza, the civilian population of Gaza," he said. "This is completely unnecessary, completely unacceptable and has to stop."

️BREAKING: Statement by Saudi Arabia’s MFA:The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia strongly and unequivocally condemns the decision by the Israeli occupation authorities to occupy the Gaza Strip, and firmly denounces their persistence in committing crimes of starvation, brutal practices, and ethnic cleansing against the brotherly Palestinian people.
The inhumane ideas and decisions adopted by the Israeli occupation authorities without deterrence once again affirm that they fail to comprehend the emotional, historical, and legal connection of the Palestinian people to this land, and that the Palestinian people have a rightful claim to it, based on international law and humanitarian principles.
The Kingdom warns that the continued failure of the international community and the Security Council to immediately stop Israeli attacks and violations undermines the foundations of the international order and international legitimacy, threatens regional and global peace and security, and portends dire consequences that encourage acts of genocide and forced displacement.
The Kingdom affirms that these ongoing Israeli crimes require the international community to take concrete, firm, and deterrent actions to end the humanitarian catastrophe facing the Palestinian people, and to enable the achievement of the solution agreed upon by peace-loving nations—by implementing the two-state solution and establishing a Palestinian state along the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital, in accordance with relevant UN resolutions.
