When Israel destroyed the Rafie Nia Synagogue in Tehran today, it attacked the second largest Jewish community in the region, and the only one outside Zionism's control

@MaxBlumenthal visited with Iranian Jewish leadership last year and discussed their relationship with the Islamic Republic, and their views on everything from Palestine to the Iranian Jewish diaspora

Watch his film with director Maria Mavati, "Uncaptured: Jews in the Islamic Republic of Iran"

Listen to what Bijan Khakshour, a leader of the Jewish community of Isfahan, told me when I asked him for his thoughts on Zionism:

"There are two types of Judaism. One is authentic Judaism, and the other is captive Judaism. We are authentic Jews: friendly, compassionate, and human loving. We never endorse the kind of Judaism that is held captive by politics, captive to power, captive to profit."

Describing events held in Iranian synagogues in protest of Israel's assault on Gaza, Khakshour added: "The words of Prophet Moses and his Ten Commandments say, 'Love your fellow as yourself.' This is not about religion or land. Love your fellow as yourself is a matter of humanity."

This is the spirit of the authentic Jewish community that Israel attacked today in Iran.
