If anyone thought the assault on Tyre was over, it isn’t.
Israel continued bombarding the city this morning, striking additional residential areas just a short while ago. Entire neighbourhoods remain under threat.
Now the so-called “Mechanism Committee,” supposedly established to monitor & de-escalate the situation, has reportedly informed officials in Tyre that Israel’s attacks are “not over yet” & that more strikes are expected.
Think about the insanity of that for a moment.
A foreign military pounds a Lebanese city for hours, then a monitoring mechanism, chaired by the U.S & including France, relays warnings that there is still more “unfinished business” to come.
Residents are now being told not to gather anywhere in the city & to remain hidden in “safe places” while explosions continue around them.
If anything this is not de-escalation.
It is the managed terrorising of an entire city, carried out under the watch of a “Mechanism Committee” chaired by the United States & including France & UNIFIL, the very actors supposedly tasked with preventing escalation & protecting stability in south Lebanon.
At some point, those overseeing this process also bear responsibility for what is being done under it.
