️JUST IN: Press Statement by the Islamic Resistance Movement – HamasWe congratulate Pope Leo XIV on his election as head of the Catholic Church and look forward to his continuation of the late Pope’s stance in defending the oppressed and rejecting the genocide in Gaza.
The Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) extends its sincere congratulations and blessings to Pope Leo XIV on his election as the leader of the Catholic Church. We wish him success in fulfilling his spiritual and humanitarian mission amid the tragedies and disasters unfolding around the world—foremost among them the ongoing brutal Zionist aggression against our Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip.
We deeply value the courageous humanitarian positions expressed by the late Pope Francis and his repeated solidarity with the Palestinian people and rejection of the occupation and its oppressive policies. We hope Pope Leo XIV will continue this moral path by standing with the oppressed and taking active steps in international forums to end the genocide and ethnic cleansing being committed by the Zionist occupation against children, women, and unarmed civilians in Gaza, and to stop the systematic violations against Islamic and Christian holy sites in Palestine.
