Pope Francis used his last public address to call for a ceasefire in Gaza and speak about the crimes committed by Israel:
“Unarmed civilians are subjected to bombings and shootings. And this even happened inside the parish complex of the Holy Family, where there are no terrorists, but families, children, sick and disabled people, nuns.”
His final public appearance was on Easter Sunday, when an aide read a message in his name urging a ceasefire in Gaza and describing the humanitarian situation as "deplorable".
The pontiff, hospitalised in February with double pneumonia, was the first pope from the Americas and led the Catholic Church since 2013.
He had been an outspoken critic of Israel's war on Gaza. In December 2024, after an Israeli strike on Jabalia killed seven children, he said: "This is cruelty, this is not war."
We extend our deepest condolences and sincerest sympathies to the Catholic Church worldwide and to all Christians on the passing of His Holiness Pope Francis, who passed away after a long journey dedicated to serving human and religious values.
The late Pope Francis held notable positions in promoting interfaith dialogue, advocating for understanding and peace among nations, and rejecting hatred and racism. On multiple occasions, he expressed his opposition to aggression and wars around the world, and he was one of the prominent religious voices condemning war crimes and genocide.
️Statement from Dr. Basem Naim,
Member of Hamas Leadership in Gaza:
“Today, the world mourns the passing of a prominent global religious figure, His Holiness Pope Francis, the Supreme Pontiff of the Roman Catholic Church, who dedicated his papacy to fostering interfaith dialogue and promoting peace across the globe. Pope Francis was a steadfast advocate for the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, particularly in his unwavering stance against the war and acts of genocide perpetrated against our people in Gaza in recent months.
Undoubtedly, the loss of such a significant and committed figure leaves a profound void that will be difficult to fill.
We extend our deepest condolences to his family, loved ones, and all his followers around the world.

President Mahmoud Abbas, offering condolences over the death of Pope Francis:
“Today we have lost a loyal friend of the Palestinian people and their legitimate rights, a strong advocate for the values of peace, love, and faith across the world, and a true friend of peace and justice.”
Israeli accounts on Telegram are celebrating the news of Pope Francis’s death and insulting him with vulgar language.
In his final statements yesterday, the Pope spoke about Gaza and the devastating war that is killing and destroying Palestinians, describing it as “creating a horrifying and disgraceful situation.”
In his Easter Urbi et Orbi address on April 20, 2025, Pope Francis made a global plea for peace, disarmament, and the release of prisoners.
The Pope urged:
— A ceasefire in Gaza, the release of hostages, and humanitarian access.
— Peace in Ukraine, the South Caucasus, and the Western Balkans.
— Disarmament and religious freedom in Africa, including Sudan, DRC, and the Sahel.
— Reconciliation in Myanmar.
Archbishop Carlo Maria Viganò was excommunicated by Pope Francis after daring to publicly reject the Pope’s authority and denounce the direction of the modern Church.
His excommunication stripped him of any eligibility to become the next pope, cutting him off entirely from Church leadership.
Viganò spoke out against global child trafficking networks, directly naming powerful figures like Hillary Clinton and John Podesta.
He went further, exposing how Jeffrey Epstein ran a Mossad-backed blackmail operation on his private island, collecting damning evidence of elites engaging in ritual abuse of children.
