BRICS

Aangezien de BRICS in de lift zit, is een eigen topic als overzicht mijns inziens wel verdiend:
Ik begin met dit Sputnik-artikel:

Over 40 countries have expressed their desire to join BRICS, with 23 of them doing so officially, according to South African top diplomat Naledi Pandor.

Multipolair globalisme in plaats unipolair globalisme. Ik zie BRICS-lidmaatschap dus niet gecombineerd met nationale soeveriniteit en beleidsdiversiteit.

Overigens wil de BRICS wel geld van ontwikkelde landen om klimaatadaptatie te financieren. (punt 61 vd verklaring).

Multipolair globalisme

Zeer belangrijk punt.

Republika Srpska, the Serb half of Bosnia-Herzegovina, will propose to the central government to seek membership of BRICS, its president, Milorad Dodik, said on Monday. His comments come after BRICS admitted six new members last week, and the EU revealed a timeline for its own possible expansion.

Earlier on Monday, European Council President Charles Michel told a gathering of Balkans and EU officials in Slovenia that the bloc aims to admit new members – such as Ukraine, Moldova, and the rest of former Yugoslavia – by 2030, if they do everything Brussels demands of them. Some of the aspiring members, like Albania, have voiced displeasure that Ukraine is jumping the line they’ve been stuck in for over a decade.

At last week’s summit in Johannesburg, the organization composed of Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa decided to admit Argentina, Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates as well, with more countries likely to join in the future.

The BRICS nations have overtaken G7 states in terms of the purchasing power parity (PPP) of their populations, Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Monday in an interview with China Media Group.

“As for BRICS, at the time of the summit in Johannesburg [in August], the ratio of the economies of the G7 countries and the BRICS countries was already in favor of BRICS in terms of purchasing power parity,” Putin said.

BRICS currently comprises Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa, but the group will be joined in January by Argentina, Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE.

The G7 club of industrialized and developed countries consists of the US, Canada, the UK, France, Italy, Germany, and Japan.

According to Putin, the BRICS expansion will prove beneficial to the group, which has historically positioned itself as an alternative to Western-dominated international institutions.

The Russian leader further argued that the move clearly reflects the ongoing formation of a new multipolar world.

“This means that every country joining BRICS supports the idea and concept of forming a multipolar world, as no one wants to play second fiddle to a ruler, seeking equal relations,” he said.

Earlier this year, UK-based economic research firm Acorn Macro Consulting reported that BRICS member nations had surpassed the G7 in terms of Gross Domestic Product (GDP) based on PPP.
According to the analysts, the five BRICS nations accounted for nearly 31.5% of global GDP, compared to 30.7% for the G7.
