Palestina - Israël

⚡🇪🇺🇮🇱JUST IN:

The Swiss winner of the 2024 Eurovision song contest has said they will be returning their award after Israel was cleared to participate in next year's event.

Nemo Mettler says "Last year I won Eurovision and with it I was awarded the trophy.
And even though I'm immensely grateful for the community around this contest and everything this experience has taught me both as a person and artist, today I no longer feel this trophy belongs on my shelf.
Eurovision says it stands for unity, inclusion, and dignity for all. Those values made this contest meaningful to me.
But Israel's continued participation, during what the UN's Independent International Commission of Inquiry has concluded to be a genocide, shows a clear conflict between those ideals and the decisions made by the EBU.
This is not about individuals or artists.
The contest was repeatedly used to soften the image of a state accused of severe wrongdoing, all while the EBU insisted Eurovision is
"non-political."
And when entire countries withdraw over this contradiction, it should be clear that something is deeply wrong.
That's why I've decided that I'm sending my trophy back to the EBU headquarters in Geneva - with gratitude and with a clear message:
Live what you claim.
If the values we celebrate onstage aren't lived offstage, then even the most beautiful songs lose their meaning.
I'm waiting for the moment those words and actions align.
Until then, this trophy is yours."

⚡🇮🇱JUST IN:

Israel often claims that the Palestinian resistance targets Israelis for their religion and seeks their extermination, rather than fighting the occupation yet Israel itself released footage it recovered in a Rafah tunnel showing the six Israeli captives lighting Hanukkah candles before they were killed during Israel’s bombardment.

The clip was found by the Israeli army during its ground assault. So if what they say is true then how were the captives allowed to freely practice their Jewish rituals inside Gaza?

The six captives are: Hersh Goldberg-Polin (23), Eden Yerushalmi (24), Ori Danino (25), Alex Lobanov (32), Carmel Gat (40), and Almog Sarusi (27). The footage is from a tunnel in Rafah’s Tel Sultan neighborhood.

38 years ago today, the First Intitada erupted.

The day before, four Palestinians from Gaza were killed when an Israeli army truck crashed into their vehicle. Their deaths ignited long-building frustration under Israeli occupation.

In Jabalia refugee camp, Palestinians responded with protests, strikes, and civil resistance, launching an uprising that quickly spread across the occupied territories.

Did you know that Palestinian women have always been at the heart of the anti-colonial struggle despite attempts by neoliberal feminism and Zionist narratives to erase their role?

Their political organizing began under British rule, when women formed some of the first national committees resisting policies that enabled Zionist settlement and suppressed Palestinian self-determination.

During the 1936–39 Great Revolt, women across cities and villages mobilized, with many even taking up arms to defend their communities.

In the First Intifada of 1987, women filled the streets, throwing stones, building roadblocks, moving supplies, and confronting Israeli soldiers. What began as spontaneous acts quickly grew into coordinated, women-led weekly protests and popular committees that sustained the uprising at the local level.

Palestinian women have consistently been a driving force of resistance and community organization across generations.

⚡️Heated exchange between Bill Maher and Ana Kasparian:

ANA: “You have a difficult time at least acknowledging the atrocities that have been committed against innocent civilians in Gaza.”

MAHER: “Well, it depends on what you call an atrocity. All wars are going to have atrocities… During the Civil War, a lot of people would say, especially in the South, that Sherman did not have to burn Atlanta quite as badly as he did. I mean, we were pretty brutal. But would you also then just say, well, we don’t know who the good guys were in that war? No, I think it was the North.”

ANA: “I think much of the problems we have in the Middle East are due to the enabling of this expansion. Look, it’s an expansionist policy.”

MAHER: “They’ve never been trying to expand.”

ANA: “They’re trying to annex the West Bank right now. And Lebanon—southern Lebanon—and Syria, which they’ve succeeded in.”

MAHER: “Excuse me, these are all places that they were attacked from. When they became a country in 1947, they said, ‘Okay, we will accept half a loaf.’ They had as much right to that land as anybody. There was a continual presence there since 1000 BC, when King David had a kingdom.”

ANA: “I don’t care about that at all.”

MAHER: “But it’s relevant!”

MAHER: “You’re calling them colonizers. They’re not colonizers.”

ANA: “They’re expanding, and they’re annexing land. That’s what colonizers do.”
