Cuba

The Trump-Rubio admin is engineering a humanitarian crisis in Cuba.

I’ve spoken with a few friends on the island over the past week, and they’re calling it “Gaza without bombs.”

The medieval-style US siege is forcing schools to close. Transportation is growing scarce. Electricity for just a few hours a day. Rising inflation. These are the factors that drive hunger.

A massive crime is unfolding before our eyes.

TRUMP JUST TURNED OFF THE LIGHTS ON 11 MILLION PEOPLE

Cuba has had zero oil shipments since January.

No oil means no power.

No power means hospitals go dark.

Hospitals going dark means people die.

The UN calls this a war crime.

Trump calls it "making a deal."

This is the first blockade of Cuba since the Cuban Missile Crisis.

And he said "I can do anything I want."

That's not foreign policy.

That's a siege.

Deprivation and depopulation: inside Cuba under US siege

@profdannyshaw, a scholar of Latin American and Caribbean studies and longtime supporter of the Cuban revolution, documents harrowing conditions across Cuba following the Trump administration's blockade of fuel to the island. A humanitarian crisis has been manufactured by Washington to unravel the last vestiges of Cuba's revolutionary structure.

Traveling from Holguin to Banes to Santiago this February, Shaw finds a population increasingly deprived of nutrition, with dwindling transportation options as gas runs low, schools shuttered, and surging inflation making basic goods unaffordable. The US embargo has hollowed out once-thriving areas, pushing young people to migrate.

Shaw explains how concessions imposed on the Cuban government have created a new class of crypto-capitalists which forms an economic bridge to Miami, and a base for Trump's promised "takeover" of the country.

Having lived among average Cuban people suffering through a humanitarian crisis imposed by Washington, Shaw delivers an unflinching chronicle of their experience under siege.

🇷🇺🇨🇺 Russia sends oil to Cuba. Breaking the blockade. Fueling the resistance.

The US embargo has lasted 60 years. The island has never broken.

Now Moscow delivers. Tankers on the way. Lights about to come back on.

China sent solar panels. Mexico promised oil. Russia sends tankers.

The empire starves. The axis saves. Cuba survives.

60 years of waiting. The world is finally showing up. Cuba is not alone. Never was. Never will be.
