After reports that CJNG leader El Mencho was killed in a military operation (unconfirmed reports say joint U.S.–Mexico forces), cartel members launched widespread retaliation.

Gunmen are attacking areas around Guadalajara International Airport, killing police, burning buses and vehicles, and setting up roadblocks across Guadalajara and Puerto Vallarta.

Air Canada has suspended Puerto Vallarta flights.

Mexico’s Embassy in Washington says the raid was planned and executed by Mexican Special Forces, with U.S. authorities providing intelligence under bilateral cooperation.

Cartel retaliation is now spreading across Jalisco and beyond.
